Logos & Branding Tip #A

Logos & Branding Tip #A

Here is a different kind of post for my Blog.

I am really BUGGED! How about you?

Big Bug

We’ve all heard the advice, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going!” But what does that mean in marketing? Sixty years of business research has proven conclusively that when times are tough, promoting your business harder and wiser will do you far more good than the defeatist adage of, “Tighten your belt, hunker down, and wait till the storm blows over.” You can’t climb the mountain if you hunker in a bunker. Accountants, number crunchers and the like would have us believe that we can “save our way out” of this downturn. That really BUGs me!!!

But really isn’t the answer always: “Get more income in the door?” The truth is that one must row with both oars: Promote and close new business first, while you also tighten expenditures.  You’ll only get your boat into a “safe harbor” if you do both: row the boat, plug the leaks — in that order. In my 55 years in marketing and branding, I’ve successfully weathered four major downturns — by doing what I’m telling you right now: promoting and tightening. Every trial and every tribulation was solved with the above formula, row the boat, plug the leaks.

And…“It isn’t the size of the dog in the fight…It is the size of the fight in the dog!”

Old dogs can learn new tricks. “Keep fighting” is the answer. Persist, no matter what! And—very importantly—find new allies to help you fight even smarter! Let your competition “hunker down” and stop promoting. They’ll soon stop selling. NOW is the time to prospect and promote and sell. And it doesn’t have to be a glossy promo to get noticed. Promote any and every way you can. Continue promoting even when it seems impossible to do. That outflow of promotion will generate an inflow of interest and prospects to close. The smarter you do it, the faster the inflow comes. The government and the “new” President will not fix this and…they never have. We, by being smart and getting busy, will fix this. There is hope through hard work and bright ideas.

Together we can get things going again. Let’s just do it!
